This holiday season gift yourself, or others, the chance to sample 3 delicious coffees from around the globe! Our team at Repetition has carefully selected three pairings from Africa and three pairings from the Americas that will allow your tastebuds to travel and explore your palette. The reason that we divided the sets into two was to highlight the different flavor profiles that you can find from different regions of the world, much like wine.
Who is this ideal for? Those that claim they 'don't know much about coffee.' Those that LOVE coffee and want to expand their knowledge of other coffee producing regions. Those that are looking to find some new favorites. Those that drink coffee. Period.
In Central and South America those coffees are coming from very tropical, soil rich environments, and those plants grow only 6-7 years before they're entirely harvested and they are planted from seed once more. The coffee plants are shorter and more stout, but produce a higher yield of coffee per pant. This is a completely different form of agriculture from what you would find in Africa.
Because it is so much more barren and dry, plants in Africa can live for 60-100 years and they must allow for the plant to live a much longer life so that the tap root can reach a water source deep below the ground. This allows for different minerals and flavors from what you would find in the Americas, where the roots don't have to grow as deep to reach water. These coffee plants are taller and leaner, and produce a lower yield of coffee per plant.
