Uganda / Bugisu
This coffee comes to us from the Gibuzale Washing Station located on the slopes of Mt. Elgon in Bigusu close to the Kenya border. Gibuzale Washing station is an advanced processing facility with an environmentally friendly depulper and covered raised beds for regulated drying. Further, cup quality in the region is enhanced by the mineral-rich volcanic soil of the dormat Mt. Elgon and the good amount of rainfall.
Repetition Coffee Co-owner & Green Buyer, Amy Pope, is traveling to the Gibuzale Washing Station with importers, Crop to Cup, in January of this year to check it out. Keep your eyes out for more stories to come!
This lot consists of of SL28 & SL34 varieties grown in volcanic soils at 1,500 – 1,800 MASL. It is fully washed and dried on raised beds.
The Uganda Bugisu is a very smooth and balanced cup. We taste a citric acidity over a chocolatey and nutty base. There are sublte notes of butterscotch, orange and grilled pineapple.
TASTING NOTES: CITRUS /// BUTTER PECAN /// BAKERS’ CHOCOLATE
