Burundi / Kayanza
This coffee comes to us from the Gahahe washing station located in the Kayanza province of Burundi. Kayanza, well known for its coffee and tea production, is located in the Northern Burundi close to the border of Rwanda. The volcanic rich soils, altitude, and moderate climate make for the perfect recipe for complex and delicious coffees.
The Gahahe washing station, built in 1989, processes cherries from a community of approximately 1,250 smallholder farmers. 'Gahahe' refers to the Candelabra tree that grows abundantly in the area.
It is a Bourbon grown at an altitude of 1,805 MASL and marks our very first natural processed Burundi offering.
It is very well balanced with fruity notes of strawberry and concord grape jam. It's rounded out with a smooth mouthfeel. We taste a citric acidity and a nougat aftertaste. Sip and enjoy!
TASTING NOTES: STRAWBERRY /// CONCORD GRAPE /// NOUGAT
