Guatemala / Atitlán
This coffee comes to us from the Association Ija'tz, a cooperative of 35 members situated on the shore of Lake Atitlán at the foot of the Toliman volcano. Ija'tz was founded in order to create economic opportunities for the local farmers while conserving the environment.
We are proud to announce that this is one of two of the first coffees we have purchased from De La Gente. De La Gente is creating economic opportunities for over 250 small-holder farmers in Guatemala and sourcing from 5 different cooperatives. Apart from the purchase of this lot, De La Gente invested in IT resources and plant care technology for the Association Ija'tz.
This lot was grown at an altitude of 1,500-1,900 MASL and consists of Bourbon, Pache, Caturra and Catuai varieties. It is our first Guatemala full natural.
We get fruity notes of cherry, blackberry and stone fruit over cacao and cedar. The coffee is smooth, round and syrupy. Enjoy!
TASTING NOTES: CHERRY /// STONE FRUIT /// CACAO
