Papua New Guinea / Kula PB
This coffee was produced by smallholders at the Sigri Estate in Wahgi Valley, located within the Western Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea. From farm to export, Sigri Estate manages the full production process and deserves recognition as one of the top producers of specialty coffee in the country.
Repetition is thrilled to feature Sigri Estate’s good work because, in partnership with Benchmark Coffee Traders, they have introduced a whole new standard for excellence for PNG specialty coffees. As one of the largest employers and economic contributors in the region, Sigri Estate commits to protecting the wellbeing of the people and the environment that make their coffees possible. The estate provides housing and healthcare for coffee pickers, as well as free education for children. They also employ a medium density shade strategy which promotes the even ripening of coffee cherries and provides habitat for over 90 species of birds. The attention to people and environment enhances quality, consistency, innovation, and complete traceability.
This is a peaberry lot consisting of Typica and Arusha varieties grown at 1600 MASL. This coffee is fully washed and sun dried on raised beds.
Kula Peaberry wonderfully represents what Papua New Guinea has to offer at its best. We taste cranberry, lemongrass acidity, and cocoa powder. Overall this cup is sweet, complex, and exceptionally clean.
TASTING NOTES: CRANBERRY /// LEMONGRASS /// COCOA
