The Peru Chirinos comes to us from Felipe Marin Mirez and Jacoba Guevara Morales of the Santuario Cooperative, a group of 360 smallholder farmers in Cajamarca, Peru. Felipe has been producing coffee for 6 years and inherited his land from his parents and Jacoba has 12 acres. This remote region of Cajamarca, in the north, is just beginning to gain access to basic infrastructure, such as electricity and paved roads.
We are proud to partner with Red Fox Coffee Merchants for the purchase of this coffee. They donated 10 cents per green pound to a producer association called Valle Inca in Cusco in southern Peru. This direct support to Valle Inca was an opportunity to make a high impact contribution to an amazing community that will put it to the best possible use. The money donated goes right back to the smallholder farmers so that they may purchase new equipment, build raised drying beds etc.
We hope you enjoy this coffee as much as we certainly do. Thanks for your support.
We’re digging the notes of sweet almond, cranberry, and dark chocolate.
TASTING NOTES: ALMOND /// CRANBERRY /// DARK CHOCOLATE
