If you’ve been a long time customer of ours, you’ll recognize the name ASMUCAFE as we’ve carried some award-winning lots from this amazing group of women. ASMUCAFE—the Asociación de Mujeres Agropecuarias de Uribe—represents the collective strength and collaboration of women landowners in El Tambo, Cauca, who farm coffee to improve their families’ quality of life and invest in community well-being. Situated in the cool, elevated landscapes of Colombia’s Cauca region, these producers cultivate regional coffee varieties with deep intention and shared values of responsibility, solidarity, and commitment. This washed processed harvest undergoes a distinctive double-fermentation method: cherries rest first in loading hoppers before being depulped and fermented again in open tanks, then thoroughly washed and dried slowly in sun or parabolic dryers. Through the Women Coffee Producers program, a gender-equity premium supports ongoing empowerment projects within the association—further strengthening the impact behind every bag of this remarkable coffee.
We’ve been impressed with every lot we’ve bought from ASMUCAFE, and this one does not disappoint! As a women-owned business, we feel privileged to be able to support women in coffee that are doing amazing things.
