This sweet and clean coffee comes to us from Vunga, a women-owned cooperative of 260 farmers producing excellent coffee, and providing coffee education programs for the next generation of farmers and producers.
The Vunga wet mill is located in Rwanda’s Nyabihu district. Traditionally, coffee farmers in the area dried their cherries on at their homes, then sold them to the domestic or low-grade commodities market for extremely low prices. The Vunga wet mill is helping to change that picture.
Vunga is a well-known washing station in Rwanda, built in 2009, it has a reputation for producing extremely high-quality coffee. In 2012, Vunga placed 13th in the Rwanda Cup of Excellence and 4th in 2014.
This coffee is a fully washed Red Bourbon grown at an altitude of 1,650-2,000 MASL.
