Ethiopia / Ardi

Regular price $18.00 Sale

For multiple years now, we've brought back this delicious natural Ethiopian from our friends at Keffa Coffee.  This coffee is from the Guji region, which is a coffee production area with high altitude and super beautiful terrain. Keffa has imported in this particular coffee since 2009 because of its consistent quality year after year.

The inspiration behind this coffee’s name comes from the discovery of Ardipithecus Ramidus, the oldest hominid skeleton ever found. The fossil, dubbed Ardi, is 4.4 million years old and was unearthed in Ethiopia’s Great Rift Valley, which is where the Guji Zone lies and this coffee is grown.  The name Ardipithecus ramidus (‘ramid’ means ‘root’ in the Afar language of Ethiopia and refers to the closeness of this new species to the roots of humanity, while ‘Ardi’ means ‘ground’ or ‘floor’). It is believed the species could be a link between modern humans and our distant ancestors. Pretty cool huh?!

When cupping this lot, we picked up notes of blackberry, peach, cacao, honeysuckle, and lavender. If you love Ethiopia coffee for it's juicy fruity notes, we know that you'll look forward to this coffee cup after cup.

TASTING NOTES: BLACKBERRY /// CACAO /// HONEYSUCKLE
