Businde Station processes the coffee cherries of up to 650 local farming families. As a washing station, Businde is setting a standard by paying a 20% premium above the local market rate to the producers in order to see a trickle down affect to both pickers and cultivators.The Businde staff also earns almost 60% above the rate for casual labor in Burundi.
Further, Businde (Matraco, Zuberi's company), distributes this coffee pulp compost as fertilizer to help the farmers nearby. Alongside this, they assist with the yields of local farmers by donating seedlings to their farms.
This coffee was grown at an altitude of 1,750 MASL, is fully washed and will take your taste buds on a trip to Burundi!
