Sumatra / Harimau Tiger

Regular price $17.00 Sale

Harimau Tiger showcases the best of classic Sumatran coffee while elevating it with a sweeter, cleaner cup profile. Like most coffees from the region, it is processed using the traditional Wet-Hulling method, known locally as Giling Basah. In this process, coffee is picked, depulped, partially dried, hulled at higher moisture content, and then fully dried for export. This unique method—combined with Sumatra’s climate and diverse coffee varieties—creates the distinct earthy, savory, and herbal flavors for which the region is famous.

The coffee comes from Aceh in northern Sumatra, where 95% of farmers are smallholders with about one hectare each, and 80% of producers are women. Farms are nestled within the Barisan Mountains’ volcanic slopes and lush rainforest, near Lake Taboa, the world’s largest volcanic lake. This rich environment, coupled with generations of smallholder farming, has made Aceh one of the most remarkable and celebrated coffee-growing regions in the world.
